translation is omnipresent

In any transfer of events from the way they happen to the way they are defined, i.e. from the realm of activity to the realm of interpretation, the process inevitably contains translational elements. When the eye-witness gives his/her testimony, he has the role of a translator before a foreign text. When an astronomer observes the collision of two galaxies, he needs to translate this enormous event into the calm language of astronomical terms and formulae. Even a camera is the translator that takes a vision and turns it into a 2+1 dimensional combination of colors and sounds within a frame.

Translation is an inescapable element of human cognition and existence. It happens everywhere, all the time.
